Kallamino Special High School (KSHS) is one of Tigray Development Association’s (TDA’s) flagship programmeswhich offers full-scholarship to talented students admitted from across primary schools of Tigray based on rigorouscompetition. It provides a science-and-technology focused curriculum, nurturing innovative, creative and productive leaders, thinkers, scientists and innovators of tomorrow.
Since its establishment in December 1997, KSHS has been pivotal in shaping competent students for universities, laying a robust foundation for the development of human capital equipped to combat poverty. Considering the cumulative number of students it has admitted and graduated so far, the School’s enrollment strategy fosters an environment of academic competition among students of primary schools across Tigray, further enhancing its reputation as a centre of excellence. Our graduates are known for their stellar performance in national exams, setting a high benchmark for other similar schools across Ethiopia. KSHS has made a significant contribution to Ethiopia’s human capital development, consistently producing graduates who excel in national examinations and exhibit high competency levels in their higher education. Most of our alumni pursue their advanced studies in the fields of Engineering, Technology and Health Sciences, contributing significantly to the nation’s overall development.
About the Job
KSHS is looking for a Deputy Managing Director who shall be responsible mainly for overseeing the operational matters of the School such as planning, coordinating and directing of the day-to-day academic activities; supporting the preparation and controlling of the School budgets; and implementation of the various School development programmes.

Required Qualification and Experience
- Educational Qualification: M.A./M.Sc./M.Ed. and above in Educational Leadership, EDPM, Educational Psychology, Science and Technology Fields or other related fields (from accredited/recognized university)
- Work Experience: A minimum of 2 years relevant leadership experience
- Additional Requirements:
- Passion for education and commitment to academic excellence;
- Knowledge of relevant educational policies and regulations;
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement effective educational programmes;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills;
- Demonstrated leadership ability to inspire and motivate staff, set clear goals, and lead by example.
- Excellent verbal and written English and Tigrigna.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership when standing in for the absence of the Managing Director;
- Set performance goals for students, teachers and support staff;
- Create conducive environment to provide guidance and counseling service to students;
- Manage the School’s environment to ensure it is clean, safe and secure for the School community;
- Ensure that academic and financial records are accurately kept, and that records of all-important events connected with the School are always maintained;
- Organize and assist in the management of all School assemblies, events, visits and trips;
- Ensure that all staff and students are present and punctual, discipline is maintained, and that academic policies and procedures are strictly followed;
- Assist the Managing Director in managing the employee appraisal process;
- Inform teaching and support staff about School rules, regulations and procedures relating to their conduct and actions;
- Ensure that the correct procedures are carried out in terms of disciplinary action;
- Deal with grievances of employees in terms of the appropriate regulations;
- Coordinate the effective and efficient utilization and safekeeping of all moveable and immovable assets in the school;
- Monitor the School infrastructure and facilities including cafeteria, health clinic, dormitories, libraries, laboratories, streets and footpaths;
- Liaise with relevant government offices and other relevant external stakeholders;
- Coordinate the use of ICT in supporting curriculum delivery and automation processes;
- Research and acquire new learning and teaching resources to improve the experience of both students and teachers.
