This week, our grade 11 students conducted an educational visit to the Mekelle Tissue Culture Bio-Technology Center. The trip aimed to enhance students’ practical understanding of plant biotechnology, including tissue culture techniques and the role of biotechnology in agriculture and environmental conservation. During the visit, students observed laboratory procedures, interacted with researchers, and gained valuable insights into the application of science beyond the classroom. The visit was part of the school’s ongoing efforts to integrate real-world scientific exposure into the curriculum.
“This experience opened my eyes to how science transforms farming,” shared one student. Experts of the center also praised the students’ engagement, highlighting the importance of youth involvement in the region’s agricultural innovation.
